  • A Roof for Silence – Book

    An architectural manifesto

The publication A Roof for Silence documents the project of the architect Hala Wardé, which is both an architectural manifesto and the Lebanese Pavilion of the International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia 2021.

Conceived as a musical score aiming to resonate disciplines, forms, and eras to provoke a sensitive experience around the notions of silence and emptiness, A Roof for Silence draws its inspiration from the myths and legends of sixteen millennial olive trees of Lebanon.

The book traces the history of an architectural project, from its birth to its inauguration at the Venice Biennale; a cyclical creative process punctuated by a succession of encounters, events, but also miracles, and which bears the scars of the explosion of the 4th of August 2020 in Beirut.
